The owners of this 1950s ranch house wanted to change the exterior appearance of their newly-purchased home.
They did not like the style of the '50s ranch, nor did they like the facts that the garage dominated the view of the house from the street and the front entry was not visible from the driveway. The family wanted to add a guest bedroom, a family room, and a sunporch; they also wanted to remodel and enlarge the kitchen. The owners also considered adding a second-floor master suite. Studio Z Architecture proposed three schemes to meet these needs, one of which is shown here.
